We had a fun and crazy week last week. Lunchworkers, Mrs. Andersen returning and getting used to our procedures, behaviors and routines. Things are coming along WELL!
This WEEK...
HOMEWORK
This is the first week of Homework, to get full points students must complete the front cover page, finish all homework attached, fill out reading chart (READ) and obtain a parent signature. All Homework is due FRIDAY MORNINGS!
If you go with a parent to the SIS Grade link, log in and look at your grades then bring back a signed note saying you did so, you will earn a reward!
Literacy
We will continue to finish up our hands poems and guided reading strategies. WE will learn about metacognition and how we think about our reading.
Math
We have been furiously learning about Place, Value, comparing numbers and rounding as well as Base and Exponents. Remember to keep your children astute on their multiplication facts! This is very helpful in 6th grade math!
Social Studies
We have been learning about the first civilizations...Hunter/Gatherer period and how we look at artifacts to study past cultures.
Science
We have been doing several activities to hone up on our inference skills. We will begin our Unit on Microorganisms...YUCKY fun stuff to come!
Last but not least we had an awesome assembly last Friday to kick off our Reading Rewards for this year. Students in my class our required to read 15o minutes per week so they will easily qualify for the reading rewards program each month! 5 or so bikes will be given away at the end of the year as well as several other prizes.
