Lots of Fun Things a Happenin'
We had a short week due to SEP's and Teacher Development Day. We enjoyed a fabulous class party put on by our wonderful MOM's...THANKS MOMS!
Literacy: We are still working on our Shadow Puppet shows from our work of art. We have started new books in guided reading and are on Unit 10 with our spelling words. This weeks words are ed and ing endings. If you need a copy you can link to my UEN page to print off one. We are going to being a Unit on the writing process (taught by our amazing Student Teacher Mrs. Wayment) and learn more on imagery and begin learning about inference. BOOKS WE HAVE READ: An Ordinary Day, Peter and the Star Catchers.
Social Studies: Look for a Greek Mythological character coming home in this weeks homework. Your student will have a Parent note with it that explains expectations and directions on completing the assignment. There will also be attached, 3 colored copies to work out the expository writing assignment. Please read the Parent letter thoroughly and sign and return. (THANKS!) We will next study about the Minoans, Mycenaeans and the Dorians of Greek Society.
Science: Our Solar System reports should be all finished up by Wednesday and ready to present to the class. Mr. Groneman is now coming into our class for the next 5 or so weeks to teach us about the Solar System and our Universe...FUN!
Math: WOW...we have learned some amazing tricks to find the prime factorization of a number, next we will learn several ways to find the GCF and LCM (greatest common factor and least common multiple). Keep up on your multiplication tables! It will make math life much easier!
And once again, what amazing group of students we have, as well as an amazing group of parents. I enjoyed visiting with you all this past week. If you did NOT get a chance to come by please feel free to email or come by before or after school! As always, please email or call me at anytime with concerns or questions.
