Here's what's been happening this past month in our classroom
We are zipping right along in our math units. We just finished learning about ratios and finding unit rates. OUR class did well in this area. We are making mini me's for our proportion unit. We will have them up in the hall during SEP's.
We began our unit on decimals and percents.
We are finishing up our Unit on Rome, we have been enjoying Ben Hur and studying about the time line of Christ. We will soon head on in to the middle ages and the Renaissance.
We are done with Science Rotations and will spend the rest of the time in our own class on Moon Phases and Light. We will review Heat, Sound and Microorganisms. Right now we are spending the next several weeks observing our moon outside. Remember to fill out your moon phase chart each night. If you miss a night be sure to check out the link on this blog. Teach your family and all of you can go out and enjoy the moon together.
We will continue our study on poetic devices, write some more poetry and then make sock puppets to help us perform our poetry. (I am looking for parent volunteers to donate/sew edges of socks in preparation for our puppets. If you are interested please contact me).
We finished our guided reading unit on information books and will begin literature circles. This is where the students can pick a book they are interested in and read and discuss with that group. Students will lead and direct the discussion as they learn how to have their OWN authentic response using the skills we have been learning through out the year.
I LOVE YOU ALL and have appreciated the kindness and respect that has been displayed in my class this year! Thanks for raising such awesome kids!
