We are HAVING A BALL! OUR CLASS ROCKS! We have learned so much already and only 5 weeks of school!
We officially had our 20th day of school today, only 80 more to go until our 100th day. We counted by 2's to 20, made 20 leaves on apples and drew 20 things we would NOT like to find in an apple. We have been practicing our math facts with MANY different strategies; COUNTING ON, DOUBLES, DOUBLES plus 1, touch points and much more. There are so many different ways to do math.
We are reading a story this week about the famous photographer George Ancona. Our vocabulary words are photographer, camera, amusement, favorite, explored, artist, and imagination. Don't forget to study for our spelling test on Friday. Getting our spelling words down along with the sounds really helps us to become better readers!
We will continue to learn about our Country's famous symbols and places, we will study more about the Declaration of Independence and I will give a treat for all those who can memorize the preamble if that is something you also want to work on at home.
We have been learning lots of fun FALL songs during our second grade singing. I have enjoyed listening to their enthusiasm and voices!
REMEMBER that the most important part of our second grade homework is READING. Try to read 20 minutes at least 5 days a week.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email or call at anytime :)
