Hearts ,ICE and mini-me

WE had a great day ice skating last Friday and immensely enjoyed our Valentine Party. A big shout out to Leslie S., Heather W. and Mickie M. for helping! The students had a hilarious time with "if you love me baby then smile". That is always a good party ice breaker. And speaking of ice breakers...we had no broken bones or cuts during our field trip to the Peaks ice Arena...However, Mrs. Andersen took a last minute spill when she was learning how to spin from the instructor. Way to Go Mrs. Andersen (I'm sure it looked very graceful!)

Math: Coming soon...pictures of our "mini-me" scale projects. We began our chapter on decimals, fractions and percentages by counting out conversation hearts and finding the fraction, decimal and percent of each color. This math is practical in our everyday lives!

Social Studies: We enjoyed learning about some of our famous Romans from Mrs. Bird's class presentations (THANKS!) and will soon begin learning about the time line of Christ while we watch Ben Hur.

Science: Mrs. Bird is having our class bring a handmade musical instrument to school by Friday Feb. 20th for a unit on SOUND. This should be a ton of fun!

Literacy: We enjoyed watching a "Pixar" short for writing. We talked about Essence of Text, writers craft and made connections and shared our opinions. This is what good readers and writers do. We are still enjoying The lightning Thief...the plot thickens as we take a Zebra to Las Vegas.

Goals for this week...We are working on using more exciting words in our writing and NOT visiting with our neighbors during instruction time or transitions~

LOVE YOU ALL!
