Busy Busy Busy

We are vast approaching the end of the first term. WE have been working hard and filling our brains with new knowledge.

Science: We finished our unit on Microorganisms and began a new unit on Heat and the three ways Heat is transferred. We will be doing our Insulating Cup experiment on Tuesday the 20th of October...So don't forget your cup!

Social Studies: Had a Busy Egyptian day where we mummified our stuffed animals, made Egyptian collars, did Egyptian wall art and made cartouches...We will soon be starting our Greek Unit. Look for an expository writing assignment to come home at the first of November.

Literacy: We have been writing like crazy and learning how to revise to make a better picture in our story. The nouns paint the picture and the verbs make the picture move! We learned how to use our higher level thinking skills to understand text, we have used these same skills to analyze and make a judgment on various pieces of art. We will write a creative short story about a selected piece of art and then perform it in the form of a shadow puppet show.

Math: We will be ending our unit on decimals. Your student should know how to add, subtract, order, compare, divide, multiply and write a decimal in scientific notation...WOW!
We will soon begin a unit on prime numbers and factoring.
